Name five bands or artists who's music has comforted or inspired you during the pandemic. Here's my list.
1. Neil Young
2. Richard Thompson
3. Crowded House
4. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
5. The Jayhawks
The Book Musik, Kimley & I will be discussing "Five Years Ahead of My Time: Garage Rock From The 1950s to the Present" by Seth Bovey. In the book he writes about a band called The Bad Seeds and their version of I'm a Kingbee. Great record! https://youtu.be/hs-ctmvG-AA
What bands/artists are you not really into, but wish you were into?
Mine are Talking Heads and Nick Cave (& the Bad Seeds)
I always meant to listen to a lot more of both of these but just never got around to it.
Steal to the Sea by Crime and the City Solution
unwind the ribbon from your hair
and shake it loose
I pick up the ribbon in my fingers
and put the fingers to my lips
interesting band reminiscent of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
If you know Talk Talk as “that cheesy 80’s New Wave band”, you may have missed this one. Their career took a dramatic turn after those days. They produced three desert island discs between 1986 and 1991.
